About Us
Melissa and Serra are the owners/operators of CHEERIOKIDS Heidelberg, a small family run Childcare Centre in Heidelberg. Working in the family run childcare and being in the education sector for more than ten years, both Serra and Melissa have developed a strong passion for early education and care. Both have refined their skills and deepened their knowledge, Serra through her Bachelor’s in Education and Melissa through her Advanced Diploma.

We are open 6:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
We are a MULTICULTURAL Centre who are catering for the needs of the community we are living in.

Our History
Founded with love and passion in 2007. Matthew and Ness poured their hearts and souls into creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Migrating from Turkey in 1989, Ness studied and worked in childcare for more than 10 years before embarking on the role of Co-Director (and chef). Matthew is a qualified an IT Engineer, and with their skills combined they decided to start their own Childcare service – that is how Cheeriokids was created.

Cheeriokids has been open for the last seventeen years and Ness & Matthews unwavering belief in the power of early childhood education and their relentless pursuit of excellence have laid the foundation for everything we do. As we celebrate our achievements and look toward the future, we're forever grateful for the profound impact they continue to have on our center, our families, and our community. You will continue to see Ness (as the kids call her Nessy Nana) in the kitchen as our head chef and Matthew as IT support in the office.

Location
We are located in a quiet suburban street in Heidelberg Heights.
On street parking is available for 2 hours and a designated drop off area is located directly in front of our service.
At Cheeriokids, we stand on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, specifically the Wurundjeri Willam clan, who have cared for this land for thousands of years. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging, and to all First Nations people who continue to care for Country with wisdom and strength.

Our parents, who brought Cheeriokids to life, migrated from Türkiye to this beautiful country in the late 1990s. Like so many who have arrived here, they were welcomed by a land already rich with history, culture, and meaning, long before any of us called it home. This land became a new home for our family, as well as for many of our educators and the families we work with.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people for their enduring connection to this land, which has allowed us to provide a safe, nurturing space for children and families to build community and grow over the last 18 years here at Cheeriokids.

We are grateful for the opportunity to walk together on this land, sharing its wisdom, teaching our children the values it holds, and caring for the future it will help shape.
